Hope y’all had a great long weekend 🙂
We chose to spend our extra day off to spend some time – where else? – outdoors.
I love going camping because it allows me to unplug, hang out in nature, and get away from the trials and trivialities of regular life for a short spate. however, as we loaded up the car with all our provisions I realized that camping can be pretty darn wasteful. Especially if you’re trying to lessen your burden, packing disposable items and packaged goods seems like a convenient way to reduce what you have to lug back.
I made an effort to minimize our waste on the trip by bringing reusable items we could wash after use, like tupperwares that doubled as plates and containers, metal cutlery, water bottles, and cloth napkins. But I still think there was room for improvement, especially when it came to food.
Are you a camper? How do you cut down on waste without overpacking? Do you have any tips and tricks for packing smarter?
